Bedworth Utd U14's progressed into the next round of the Nursing Cup with a narrow 4-3 victory v Coventry Sporting at the Oval. It was though arguably their best performance for a long time and were on top of the game from the off and it was no surprise when they took the lead with a fine finish by Spencer Grove. It was one way traffic and Connor Hill was getting shots at goal at will but not finding the target as was Tom Caven who failed to score when he fashioned a good chance. Hill though did stretch the lead when his in swinging corner dropped in at the far post. It looked like being a walk in the park but Cov Sporting were not done and reduced the arrears from a fast breakaway. They then did the un-thinkable and got level to go in at the break 2-2 in a very good half of junior football. The second half saw the game swinging back in the home sides favour and recent signing Callum Gavin scored with a low shot into the corner of the goal from 18 yards, Jordan Harris then nearly got in on the act as his looping goal bound header was cleared over the bar. Hill saw another shot go narrowly wide before the unlucky Connor Ross had 3 close range shots blocked after an almighty goalmouth scramble! Sporting weathered the storm and got level again but the hero of the hour was Harvinder Singh who out paced the visitors defence before dispatching a confident finish past an on rushing keeper! Connor Ross thought he had extended the home sides lead after good work down the right by Harris and Liam Harper but his goal was ruled out by a baffling offside??
